The Ranch Season 1 - 8

I had just finished 5 Seasons of HOT IN CLEVELAND in 2015 with Michael Hynes, and was heading into a hiatus with no show to return to. Luckily for me, the sitcom serendipity struck again. I got a call from John Shaffner, and he told me Netflix was going to produce their first multi-camera show called THE RANCH. I had worked with the producer on a previous show, and she was happy that John was bringing me on board.

THE RANCH was one rigorous multi-camera hybrid show, with rain/snow/a lot of woods/greens, and aging to the degree that I have never seen before. It was in contrast to anything I had worked on up to that point. Both John and I mastered designing barns and forests.

Working with John materialized at the perfect time for me. When I had seen him walk over to a kitchen drawer with sandpaper on his knuckles to put wear behind the drawer pull, it was clear that I would have 80 episodes of design education.

John is one of the most generous people I have ever worked with. I was treated more like his partner on the show than his assistant. The cast and crew, in its divine alignment, created 80 illustrious episodes.
